THE AUSTRALIAN BALLET SCHOOL STUDIO REHEARSAL – 5 July 2013
Society Members were given a Preview of the programme which The Dancers Company is taking to regional Australia from 21 July to the end of August. It was a full-dress rehearsal of the classic Paquita, a new work by Simon Dow Rimbonbo (which is Italian for ‘Rumble’) and Act 111 of the traditional Swan Lake. It was a very entertaining programme danced with style by the senior students of the School in full costume for the first time. There was great contrast between the two classics and Simon’s work which has lots of funny moments in it but contains lots of challenging dancing as well. If the response from the audience is any indication the whole programme should be a hit when it takes to the regional areas.
The audience then moved into The Dancers Deli which had provided fresh scones, jam and cream and tea and coffee which everyone enjoyed including the student dancers who joined Members and tucked in as well. There were lots of happy people leaving the Ballet Centre that afternoon.
We wish the students and guests great success as they ‘take to the road’ to present this programme to our distant neighbours and ballet lovers throughout Australia.
